What is a Death Doula?
How I Can Help
What Is a Death Doula?
A death doula, also called an end-of-life doula, is a compassionate, non-medical guide who supports people and their loved ones through the final chapter of life. Just as a birth doula offers care and presence at the beginning of life, a death doula offers steady, respectful support at the end, helping bring comfort, clarity, and meaning to a deeply personal experience.
My role is to walk alongside you emotionally, spiritually, and practically during a time that can feel overwhelming or uncertain. I provide a calming presence, help guide important conversations, assist with advance planning, and create space for reflection, connection, and closure. That might mean sitting quietly at the bedside, helping someone put their wishes into words, guiding legacy projects, or supporting family members as they navigate grief. My care is always centered on honoring each person's values and choices, including the choice to pursue medical aid in dying where it is legally available.
I work alongside hospice, medical providers, and family, not in place of them. While they focus on medical care, I focus on the person, the family, and the experience as a whole.
I believe that dying, like living, deserves dignity, compassion, and intention. My goal is not to take control, but to empower, so that no one feels alone, unheard, or unprepared. Every journey is unique, and I'm here to meet you exactly where you are, with gentle guidance and steady support every step of the way.
